One of the Chilean miners, trapped underground since August 5th, had a premonition that the disaster would occur. According to his girlfriend, 19 year old Jimmy Sanchez was "afraid every time he went down there and he said he had this feeling that something terrible was about to happen. Jimmy was terrified there might be an earthquake and he could get trapped. They warned their bosses, but nobody would listen. Nobody cared for their safety."

Jimmy Sanchez was born in the Chinese Year of the Horse. More specifically, he was born during the year of the Metal Horse. Of all the elements that the Horse can be associated with, the Metal Horse is the most intuitive and free-spirited. It may be that Jimmy`s equine sign put him in touch with the structures of the mine. Surrounded by veins of gold and copper for long periods of time, it is possible that the Horse became linked to its surroundings on an elemental level and was able to communicate the potential of disaster to Jimmy on an emotional level. Metal Horses are among the most gifted of the Horse signs, well known for their ability to `read` people and situations. Perhaps if the miners` bosses had listened to Jimmy`s concerns, the current situation might have been avoided.
